Holy Week at LaSalle Street Church: Walk, Reflect, Celebrate
Beloved friends of LaSalle -
We are nearing the end of Lent and preparing for Holy Week up ahead. This is a beautiful season where we are reminded of our humanity, our hope and our doubt, our faith and our need for one another in tangible, profound ways. Below we're sharing our schedule and related details so that you can join us (and bring a friend!) for Palm Sunday, Good Friday, and Easter Sunday - and in addition to that, I want to offer a reminder.
This Holy Week occurs while our nation continues to be in grief and lament over so many ongoing and unjust policy shifts. We are still weathering assaults on the image of God in so many of our siblings through words and deeds in the public square. And we still hear the twisted connections some make between the Christian faith and actions that are racist, violent, and not of God. So this Holy Week, I want to remind us all to keep truth, life, community, and abundance near. Seek out joy and justice daily! We know that God is not still in the tomb. God is not still on the cross. God is not being betrayed by loud crowds who celebrate him with Palms only to then demand his murder by the state shortly after. Yes, it is important to walk through the ups and downs of Holy Week - making room for the lament and grief of Good Friday knowing God suffers with us, and sitting in the wait and patience of Silent Saturday - but this year, please also stay tethered to the light. Stay close to truth, life, abundance and one another. Continue to care for your souls, your bodies, and your hearts with joy, so that together we can endure, and stand, and thrive in this marathon we are in up ahead.
Peace to you this Holy Easter Season - RevLiz
