Gratitude, Generosity, and Growth: A Year-End Message of Hope and Support
by Treasurer Karl Lauger
Thank you, LaSallers, for your on-going generosity toward this church and its ministries. It is because of you and your financial giving that we are able to buy food and supplies for Breaking Bread, pay the electric bill, compensate our hard-working staff and much, much more. This church moves forward day by day, month by month, because of you.
December is always a big giving month for the church. We depend on healthy December giving and plan for it every year to make our budget work. I trust many of you are planning your final year-end gift now and I believe this year will be no different than other years. Thank you in advance for your generous year-end gifts.
If, for you, this is a season of life where financial giving to the church is just not possible, that's all right. We are glad you're with us anyway and encourage you to do what you need to do to take care of yourself. Perhaps one day this season of life will pass and you'll be in a place where you can once again contribute to the church. For now, just keep showing up. We're glad you're here.
By now you've heard all about pledge cards - many times. I hope you won't just tune out the noise. Pledge cards play an important role in our budget planning every year. The more pledges we have, the more certainty we have around income for the coming year and the better able we are to put together a reasonable budget.
Pledging is way behind what it is in most years. Perhaps you've been busy. Perhaps you're still deciding how much to pledge. I hope you'll take a moment now and finalize that decision. You can return the pledge card you recently received in the mail or you can go to lasallestreetchurch.org/stewardship-2025 to submit an online pledge. Our goal this year is for ten new pledges and ten increased pledges. My wife and I increased our pledge this year. Will you join us in that way and be one of the ten?
The last piece of the financial puzzle I want to mention is the outside grant money we received this year. Largely through Pastor Randall's work in the community through NNUP we received $150,000 in grant money in 2024. That extra money will go a long way toward supplementing what you gave throughout this year.
Blessings on you and your family and friends as you move through the holiday season. This time of year is great in many ways, but I know it is also painful for some of us. May you somehow find happiness and meaning no matter what your circumstances.
Peace,
Karl Lauger
