Brent Bailey

Associate Pastor of Connection

Brent has served in a variety of roles with churches and non-profits here in Chicago, as well as in Texas, where he was born and raised. Brent’s work has largely focused on two primary areas of calling: He’s enthusiastic about contemplative spirituality as a pathway to relationship with God and a foundation for service and activism. And he loves nurturing and amplifying the faith journeys of LGBTQ individuals and exploring the gifts they bring to the church. Before LaSalle, he was a technical writer in the financial tech world, and Brent received a Master of Divinity at Abilene Christian University.

Where do you live and with who? I live in Humboldt Park with my husband, Steve, and our dog, Hank (short for Henri Nouwen).

Favorite drink: Black coffee and Topo Chico

Favorite ways to recharge: I love writing, I love hiking in Chicago’s forest preserves and Indiana Dunes (and other National Parks, when we get the chance), I love reading fiction, and I love making quilts and other fiber arts.

What are you enjoying lately about your role at LaSalle: It’s a joy to witness how different folks in the church are coming alive in different areas in this new chapter of LaSalle’s life, and it’s especially wonderful to experience people expressing their gifts in creative and surprising ways!
