Join the Congregational Budget Meeting This Sunday
LaSalle Community,
As many of you know, this upcoming Sunday, February 16, is the date of our annual congregational budget meeting. The meeting is an opportunity for LaSalle Street Church members to vote on the LSC budget for the year ahead. However, this meeting and this vote are not the beginning of this process and I thought it might be helpful to share a recap of the steps and the investment of time it took to get us to this weekend.
The church’s financial staff, with oversight from our Senior and Executive pastors carefully reviewed our anticipated revenues and expenses for 2025, working diligently to reduce costs. Their work continues to drive us towards a balanced budget in a thoughtful and practical manner.
Our Property & Finance committee reviewed, questioned, and ultimately voted to support the budget and move it forward to review by our Elder Board.
The EB did their own review and voted to support and move this budget forward to the entire congregation for a vote.
We held a meeting last Sunday, February 9, inviting all interested parties to ask questions and dive more deeply into the nuts and bolts of this budget. Thank you to everyone who took time out of their Sunday to participate in this conversation. Your commitment to ensuring good stewardship of our finances is important.
For those of you that are newer to LSC, or to church finances in general, I hope this gives some helpful context to how we arrive at the budget we are asking you to vote on. This budget reflects more than the numbers on the page. It is also a reflection of what and who we are invested in. It is the foundation for how we share God’s work with the folks in our pews and the community around us. It is the financial engine behind living out an expansive faith. I ask that you give it your prayerful and thoughtful consideration in the next few days.
I look forward to seeing many of you this weekend for our meeting. Please check out the voting form here if you are unable to be with us in person.
