Ashes & Advocacy: A Lenten Journey of Humility and Hope
This Lenten season, we will join with millions of Jesus followers around the globe in preparing for Easter - a time when we focus on our dependence on God, our mortality, and also the life and restoration of God's kin-dom that is up ahead. In a season with so much injustice, grief, and confusion swirling in our national reality, LaSalle is entering into Lent this year with both ashes and advocacy, with a posture of both humility and a hunger for life. You're invited to join us in several different endeavors meant to help us stay healthy, whole, connected, and faithful this Lenten Season - there are three study groups meeting, there's our ongoing Joy/Justice/Jesus Art project that's asking for submissions all of spring (send to info@lasallestreetchurch.org), there's the new Justice & Advocacy Volunteer Team, and there are ongoing advocacy efforts we will share with the congregation as we learn about them. This week we're sharing several ways that various communities are organizing for Advocacy this Lent - read below and join with several Black Clergy leaders, with Sojourners, the Presbyterians, and more as together we seek - Ashes & Advocacy - Humility and Hunger for Life. Amen.
