<< who we are: a ministry of lasalle street church >>

Breaking Bread provides food, fellowship, and support to individuals and families in our community who are hungry and without resources. It is a Christian ministry of LaSalle Street Church and friends that began March 12, 2003.

<< what we do: a meal and more >>

Every Wednesday we serve a delicious home-cooked meal to 75 homeless and hungry guests in a dining atmosphere that includes serving the meal restaurant-style, using “real” plates and silverware for our guests, and live music, all of which provide an evening of hospitality and encouragement for folks who are facing many challenges and disappointments in their daily lives.  The “more” is that we also provide free clothing, food, health services, seminars, supplies, and referrals that contribute to the long-term progress and healing of our guests.

Volunteer opportunities include one or a combination of the following:

  • Leading a team
  • Cooking, setting up, serving and/or cleaning up
  • Getting to know our guests; assisting them with their needs
  • Coordinating clothing donations
