LaSalle Forum - The Renovation of LaSalle Street Church

LaSalle Forum meets on Sunday mornings at 11 am in Cornerstone Center, Leslie Hall, Room B. All are welcome. Architecture’s fundamental mission in a church environment is to echo the theology and core beliefs of the particular congregation it serves. Sounds easy enough…but it isn’t. Jose Luis de la Fuente, architect for the LaSalle renovation, will guide us through the challenges and opportunities of designing within an existing historical context and a diverse denominational make-up. We will discuss the main ideas behind the design – the theological underpinnings and how accessibility and hospitality helped shaped the project. We will also look at the discoveries, facts, figures and pictures of the renovation process.
