schedules: ordering our life together Upcoming events Sunday, Jul 27 This Sunday, July 27 we welcome Greg Fung to the pulpit. Greg is a native to LaSalle, born and dedicated into the life of the church in 1973. The last 17 years, 11 of which have been with InterVarsity, he has been experimenting with ministry to the poor and college campus ministry in Boston, the Philippines, Thailand and Cambodia. We look forward to welcoming Greg and his wife back to LaSalle next week. -Sunday, Jul 27 LaSalle Forum meets Sunday mornings at 11 am in Cornerstone Center's Leslie Hall, Room B. All are welcome.. The third and final forum in Roy Vice’s series looks at Frauenkirche and Kreuzkirche, two churches in Dresden, Germany that were deeply affected by the allied bombing of WW II. One became a center of opposition to the government of East Germany. The other was destroyed and rebuilt after re-unification. Both churches today reach out to a very secular society through their music programs. -Sunday, Jul 27 The LaSalle Choir will begin rehearsal and warm-up for the Choir Summer Reunion Sunday on July 27 in the Sanctuary at 8am. Sunday, Jul 27 (11:00 am, Cornerstone Center) Human beings are creatures of the earth that love to explore the sky. More information on Rev. Rah is available in the August 10 and August 17 calendar postings. -Sunday, Aug 3 LaSalle Forum meets on Sunday mornings at 11 am in Cornerstone Center, Leslie Hall, Room B. All are welcome. Architecture’s fundamental mission in a church environment is to echo the theology and core beliefs of the particular congregation it serves. Sounds easy enough…but it isn’t. Jose Luis de la Fuente, architect for the LaSalle renovation, will guide us through the challenges and opportunities of designing within an existing historical context and a diverse denominational make-up. We will discuss the main ideas behind the design – the theological underpinnings and how accessibility and hospitality helped shaped the project. We will also look at the discoveries, facts, figures and pictures of the renovation process. -Sunday, Aug 3 (10:30am to 2:30 pm; meet in front of Cornerstone Center) We will be taking a trip to the Adler Planetarium in Chicago. The cost is $5.00 per person. Chaperones and drivers are free! Please plan to bring a sack lunch and drink for a picnic lunch. Sign up and permission slips available at the Ice Cream Social on July 6. -Sunday, Aug 3 This summer the youth have been planning the renovation of Room 100 during four consecutive Sunday morning times, discussing how we can develop this room into a space we can call our own.
